a boston show. at last!

It's been a good while since we've played a headlining show in Boston, but worry not: we'll be returning on March 20th to play a show at the Lizard Lounge, the greatest bar in America (that is a fact, that's not just Isa editorializing). We're so excited to be back in our hometown – and we'll even be trying out some new songs!

But wait, there's more: we're so excited to have Rachel Sumner opening the show! Rachel is best known as a vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter in everyone's favorite bluegrass/indie-pop band Twisted Pine, but she also plays banjo and various woodwind instruments. (She can also occasionally be seen in the Lady Hang, a supergroup of sorts with Ellie and Isa and a bunch of other ladies.)

Come on out! We can't wait to see you! We'll post a ticket link on our SHOWS page as soon as it's available.

Hi Brooklyn!

New York City, you scare us but we love you. This is just a quick hello to say that we'll be comin' at ya this weekend to play a show at the famed Jalopy Theatre! We'll be playing a set of our music (featuring some brand-new songs) at 8:30 PM, followed by a quick square dance lesson at 9:45 and a square dance at 10, with music by local badass old-time band Ginny's Kitchen.

See, they're great, right?!?! We love 'em. And we love to square dance. Hope to see you there! Here's a link where you can buy tickets.

Happy 2018!

Look at all these happy faces! This onstage selfie pretty much sums up how much fun we had on the Bluegrass Jamboree tour. We spent a month on a bus in Germany with our dear friends the Lonely Heartstring Band and Lonesome Ace Stringband, our fearless tour managers Rainer and Ille, and our VERY fearless bus drivers Gerda and Peter.

We played 23 shows in 26 days, visited a lot of Christmas markets, played a lot of country songs and old-time tunes in hotel bars and in stairwells and under bridges, and drank a lot of pilsner and mulled wine. It was one of the best experiences of our lives, and we feel so grateful for it all! You can check out our Instagram for more photos from the tour.

We're so excited to be returning to the Sinclair in Harvard Square for a big ol' throwdown with our pals the Suitcase Junket, Julie Rhodes, Tim Gearan, and Kate Lorenz. What a lineup! It's this Friday, January 5th, and we play at 8PM, so be punctual! We may even be trying out some brand new songs at this show. You can get your tickets HERE.

2017 was a tough year in a lot of ways, but it was a really good year for new music. In order to celebrate the new year, we made an epic Spotify playlist full of our favorite songs released throughout the year – click HERE to check it out! We hope it helps you find some new music you'll love.

That's all we've got for now. Stay tuned, though – we think 2018 is going to be a big year for Lula Wiles! As always, you can keep in touch with us by following us on social media and signing up for our email list. We can't wait to show you what we've been working on. We hope you're all staying warm, and we wish you a very happy new year!

Isa, Ellie, and Mali

We're going to Germany!

Prost! That means "cheers" in German, which I had to confirm by Googling it! We will have to spend the next month and a half brushing up on our German, because...

We're beyond stoked to be part of this year's Bluegrass Jamboree tour playing 23 dates in Germany and one in Austria! Joining us on the tour, which starts November 21, will be our dear friends the Lonely Heartstring Band, and our soon-to-be-friends the Lonesome Ace Stringband. Check out all the tour dates on our SHOWS page, and tell your friends in Germany if you (unlike us) are cool enough to have friends in Germany. We're gonna drink ALL of the beers.

Maine Fiddle Camp Reunion Tour

Just listen to these gals!! They're so good!

We're not actually calling this the Maine Fiddle Camp Reunion Tour, I just thought of that name a second ago, but maybe we should have?? (We met Ari & Mia as #youngteens at MFC and it's really fun to be playing music with them again.)

ANYWAY. Northeast mini-tour with Ari & Mia is underway! We had an awesome time last night at Riverwalk Cafe in Nashua, NH, and we're heading west to the Parlor Room in Northampton, MA tomorrow. We're so excited to return to the Parlor Room – it's one of our favorite venues.

After that, we'll be returning to the very lovely Birdhouse Center for the Arts in Lambertville, NJ, where last year we met a newborn lass named Willow who became the namesake for Mali's bass. From there, we'll be heading to Dewey Hall in Sheffield, MA, and closing things out at our band's home Club Passim. Tickets are moving, so get 'em while you can! You can find ticket links & details on our SHOWS page. Hope to see you out there!

It's almost summer!!

This is Isa reporting from Lula headquarters (also known as Darwin's Ltd., our favorite café in Cambridge). It's a cozy, rainy spring day and we're looking forward to all of the exciting things we have coming up this summer!

In June, we're incredibly excited to be heading to Beak and Skiff Apple Orchards in Lafayette, NY to play a show with Parsonsfield and the Wood Brothers!! We're excited to hear Parsonsfield for the first time, and extra extra excited to be sharing a stage with the Wood Brothers, who are one of our favorite bands and a huge inspiration to us. They rock so hard. We can't wait. Tickets and more details on our SHOWS page.

Next up, a mini-tour with Ari and Mia, an amazingly talented sister duo (fiddle/banjo, cello, and gorgeous harmony vocals) who we've known since our days as Maine Fiddle Camp tweens. We're so excited to be teaming up with them for six Northeast shows at the end of June! We'll be hitting up some of our favorite venues, including two shows at our hometown venue Club Passim on June 23rd. If you're not familiar with Ari and Mia's music, you can listen to their beautiful album "Out of Stone" HERE. And again, all of our tour dates are listed on our SHOWS page.

Lastly, as native Mainers, we were particularly excited to be featured in Down East Magazine. Ellie and Isa spoke with Joel Crabtree about our upbringing in Maine, the indelible influence of Maine Fiddle Camp on our band, and our show later this summer at the Kingfield Pops. Click the Down East logo to check it out!

More news & updates coming soon. Thanks for stopping by!

2017 will be good, we think

What a year it's been! In every possible way! We're looking forward to closing out 2016 with a bang, playing at the Academy of Music for First Night in Northampton, MA. We'll be opening for The Suitcase Junket, who must be seen and heard to be believed. This show is going to be REALLY fun – we'll be wearing our sparkliest outfits and we hope you will too.

Looking ahead into February 2017, we'll be heading back to the Folk Alliance International conference before heading out for a few Northeast dates with the amazing Rose Cousins, who we're pretty sure is the queen of Canada (idk how Canada works really). We'll be playing in NYC, Northampton, and Portsmouth NH (at the Press Room, where Isa's parents met)!

We are also pretty much quaking with excitement for Signature Sounds' Back Porch Festival in March. We'll be playing on Saturday, March 11 for Bluegrass Night at the Academy of Music, with Sarah Jarosz, Tony Trischka, and Tim O'Brien. (Like. Are you KIDDING ME with that lineup. We are so stoked.)

From there, we'll be heading out on a big ol' East Coast tour! Stay tuned for dates; they'll be announced soon on our SHOWS page and on social media. Lastly, in April, we'll be heading back to Caramoor in Katonah, NY to play a show with the dreamiest indie-folk boy band to ever exist : Darlingside!

More to come soon. Stay tuned.

new video + shows with pals!

The Summer Hoot is one of the best festivals on this earth. We had so much fun playing there back in August, and we teamed up with our friends at Beehive Productions once again to make this video! Check it out!

This weekend we'll be traipsing all over the Northeast opening for our new pals Mipso! We'll be playing in Portland, Boston, and NYC. Then, at the end of the month, we're hitting the road with our buddy Anthony da Costa (you may know him from Aoife O'Donovan's band) for a bunch of co-bill shows. We're so excited to be sharing stages with these brilliant musicians. Go to our SHOWS PAGE for more info. Hope to see you out there!
